Gordon County Schools' GAEL Fab 4 Presentation on Community Conversations

From the Desk of the Superintendent

Dr. Susan Remillard

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Gordon County Schools, and I am glad you are visiting with us to learn more about our school system. This website has been designed with our stakeholders in mind, and I hope you find it easy to navigate and an informative way to stay connected with your child’s education.

The Gordon County community at-large and our school system employees share a tradition of pride in our schools, students and community. Our citizens possess a unique understanding of how a quality education with high expectations and positive results for each student helps us follow our compass for developing a 21st century work ready community, comfortably committed to generating strong ties among students, teachers, and parents.

When a community is united in its commitment to the education of its youth, like Gordon County has demonstrated, good things happen. GCS students’ CRCT/EOCT criterion referenced test scores and performance assessments have documented that we are among the best school systems in the state of Georgia. All of our schools are fully accredited by the Georgia Accrediting Commission and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). In addition, Fairmount Elementary is a “National Blue Ribbon School.”

The key to motivating our students to achieve high academic standards is a meaningful blend of supportive parent involvement, a strong engaging curriculum consisting of best practices, all brought to life by highly qualified and genuinely caring teachers. The students of Gordon County Schools are blessed by daily exposure to caring individuals, educators and non-educators alike. These qualities are plainly evident and serve as the foundation for the successes of Gordon County Schools.

Again, welcome to our website, and I hope that you will find the information that you need. For further information, you may contact our central office at 706.629.7366.

The mission of Gordon County Schools is to provide a relevant, rigorous, results-based education made possible through supportive, nurturing relationships.
