10 Grade Pre-AP Summer Assignment

When you return to school in August, you should have completed your reading of To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee and Lord of the Files by William Golding. You will be tested on To Kill a Mockingbird during the first week of school and your Major Works Data Sheet for it will be due on the same day as the test. During the third week of school, you will be tested on Lord of the Flies. A Major Works Data Sheet for Lord of the Flies will be due at that time.

In addition to the summer reading selections, we will also read Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya. This book is readily available locally and on the Internet. It is also relatively inexpensive so we recommend that you purchase your own copy in order to make notes in the margins and highlight important passages. Be SURE that you do NOT buy or read an Illustrated Classic. I highly recommend McKays used-book store in Chattanooga.
