Gordon Central High School received an award for raising the most money for the Gordon County Relay for Life event that was held on May 4. GCHS students, faculty, and staff all worked together to raise over $2,000 for this worthy cause. Nearly all of us have a personal story that connects us to the scary word cancer. Mrs. Krista Hall, Relay for Life team captain, and Mr. Scott McClanahan, principal, accepted the award, but recognize the efforts of the entire tribe.

Fairmount Elementary School has jumped right into the new College & Career Readiness Program. This year as a part of this new curriculum, students were treated to presentations by such occupations as dog trainer to fireman. Our thanks to the visiting speakers: Wendell Boley (pictured above), Butch Burch, Sharon Callan, Matt Farmer, Tracy Farriba, Scott Fox, Brandi Hayes, Jack Jenkins, Rita Lacey, Bill Long, Kelly Parkman, Slade Paschal, Mayor Harry Pierce, Toni Queen, Romaine Spieker and David Weaver.

Sonoraville Elementary is proud to recognize several students who achieved a perfect score on various sections of the CRCT. In third grade, Aubry Dorsey achieved a perfect score on the Reading section of the CRCT. In fourth grade, Eli Hibberts achieved a perfect score on the Reading and English/Language Arts. In fourth grade, Edwin Andrade achieved a perfect score on the English/Language Arts section. Also, in fourth grade, Janay West achieved a perfect score on the English/Language Arts and Math section. In fifth grade, Trevor Johnson achieved a perfect score on the Math section. Congratulations Students!
