 GORDON COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM OFFERS STUDENTS GLOBAL COMPETENCY IN THE 21ST CENTURY G6 CENTER - SIX SCHOOLS WITH ONE MISSION Gordon County's first gifted center was launched into action on January 19, 2012. The REACH elementary gifted program has blasted into the 21st century by offering fourth and fifth grade students purposeful and engaging work that includes building/programming robots (robotics), crime scene investigations (CSI) and an opportunity to experience a student-centered, customized environment for learning. Gordon County School System understands that our students have the opportunity and challenge of living and working in a diverse and rapidly changing world in which they must be prepared to address global issues and thrive in an international competitive society. SES honored those students in the month of December who demonstrated the Character Word "Generosity" with a special breakfast from Chick Fil A.

SMS Universal Robotics Wins Another Award |

SMS Universal Robotics Teams competed at Lowndes County High School in Valdosta, Georgia this past Saturday, January 21. The team of Wil Tierce and Mohit Manson advanced to the semifinals by defeating several high school teams. Wil and Mohit were awarded the Judges Award at the competition for having an excellently designed robot. The team of Spencer Nolder, Don Luke McKee and Jayda Hettmansperger also competed very well for their first competition. The teams represented SMS by showing great skills, energy and sportsmanship at the competition. SMS Universal Robotics is becoming well-known as the team that defeats the high school teams from all over the state. Way to go SMS Robotics! We are proud you are part of the Phoenix Nation!
