Gordon Central seniors visited our feeder schools on Friday, May 18. Our students really appreciated the opportunity to say thanks to those teachers who got them started on the right track! The photo was taken at Ashworth Middle School.
The GC Track and Field held their awards banquet May 19. In this picture are the Senior members. In addition to students' awards, several teachers and coaches received trophies for assitance and support including Mr. Shane Cloer and Mrs. Carol Ferguson. There are 80 team members. This season was very successful.
Jessica Sikes received the GCHS Media Center's Reader of the Year Award. Jessica has read over 100 books this school year and has been the most frequent patron in our NOOK check-out program.

GCHS student, Sam Anderson, awarded Bronze ROTC Medal
Mr. Ed Walraven, from The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, presents Sam Anderson an award during last night’s GCHS JROTC Award Ceremony. The Citation reads:
“Samuel Grant Anderson has been awarded the Bronze ROTC Medal in recognition of outstanding leadership qualities, military bearing and excellence, thus exemplifying the high ideals and principles which motivated and sustained our patriot ancestors.” Congratulations, Sam! HOOAH!
On Thursday, May 9, Gordon Central Senior Haley Reynolds racked up two State Championships for Track and Field in the discus and shot put. This accomplishment came just days after signing a scholarship for Track and Field to Mississippi State. Reynolds is an exemplary example of a true Warrior! Way to go!!!

GCHS English Department Celebrates County Award
The GCHS English department is proud to announce that Noah Hunt was selected as the county-wide winner for 9th grade submissions for Young Georgia Authors Contest. The Young Georgia Authors competition is sponsored yearly by the Georgia Department of Education . The purposes of the competition are to encourage students to develop writing that represents their best efforts, provide a context for schools to support and celebrate the writing success of all students, and to encourage and recognize student achievement in writing throughout Georgia. Noah is the son of AMS media specialist Leigh Ann Hunt and Jamey Hunt of Calhoun, GA. Noah will also be recognized for this prestigious accomplishment at the annual Honors Day Program on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. Congratulations Noah; we are very proud of you!
