Please check the tabs to the left for your specific course as the year progresses; I will post essential documents, assignments, and rubrics. Whether you are out sick or lose materials handed out in class, these pages will serve as the repository for these things.
Syllabus, Schedule, and Tutoring The course syllabi for my classes is posted in tabs to the left. Students who wish to have one-on-one assistance outside of class hours must notify me in advance to ensure that there are no conflicting commitments. I can make myself available after school for this assistance.

Contact You will find it easier to reach me by email than any other method of communication. You may email me at schurchwell@gcbe.org. Alternatively, some parents may need to schedule conferences. Whether these are with one teacher or all four, parents should contact our counseling office to coordinate all face-to-face conferences. Please call 706-602-0320 and ask for the counseling department if you wish to set up a meeting.
About Me I graduated from Auburn University in 1991 with a degree in Journalism, but I eventually pursued a different career path in the corporate world in Los Angeles, California. After returning to the Atlanta area in 2005, I decided to become a teacher. This marks my seventh year as a teacher of English. In addition to my certification, I hold a Gifted Education endorsement from the state of Georgia as well as certifications from the College Board in AP Language and AP Literature. Travels Besides a passion for reading, I take an active interest in exercise, hiking, eco-tourism, nature, travel, museums, and sports (rugby in particular). I' ve managed to tap into these various interests in several recent trips abroad. Because some of my students are interested in the world beyond our own backyard, I've created separate tabs to the left which serve as photo albums from my trips to Australia, England, New Zealand and Belgium.
