Welcome to the Sonoraville Middle School Band and Music Appreciation Website. I am excited about having our students play and perform on musical instruments, and learn about music

The Middle School program offers a Beginner Concert Band, an Intermediate Concert Band made of 7th graders and chamber ensembles in Woodwinds, Brass, and Percussion. We are offering a 7th grade beginner band this year for students who missed the opportunity in 6th grade to begin on an instrument. 8th graders are performing and being graded with the High School.

Students usually lease instruments from Pete's Music or Stephens Music in Calhoun.  Beginner instruments include Flute, Clarinet, Alto Sax, Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba, and Percussion.  I recommend an instrument lease while students are learning for repair or service needs as your child learns. 

Students will be using the following books for Band:

Essential Elements 2000 - Book 1 - 6th Grade

Essential Elements 2000 - Book 2 - 7th Grade

Monday - MB Rehearsal -3:30 - 5:00 PM

Tuesday -MB rehearsal - 3:30 - 5:00 PM

Thursday - MB Rehearsal 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Goals - To learn the drill for "It is Well,"  and  "Finale"
