    National Scholarships:

    InspirASIAN: InspirASIAN makes a difference in our community by supporting graduating high school seniors with their college education through our scholarship awards. InspirASIAN awards national scholarships to students residing in any state with a participating local InspirASIAN chapter. All students who apply will be considered for the national scholarships awards. Students who are not awarded national scholarships will be considered for state scholarships if offered by local InspirASIAN chapters. Students graduating within the state of Georgia are eligible to apply for 38 available scholarships valued at either $2,000 (28) “National” or $1,000 (11) “State” chapter awards. The InspirASIAN scholarship is open to students of ALL nationalities. (FYI: Over the past five years, over 25% of applicants from the state of GA have received an award.) The deadline to apply is January 31, 2021.     PB&J Scholarship: For students who have experienced personal challenges that may not have allowed them to perform well academically, but who still have the drive to succeed. A high GPA is not needed to qualify. Scholarship awards range from $500 to $1,000. All students have to do is fill out the online application, submit a transcript and one-two letters of recommendation. The deadline to apply is May 31, 2021.     Army ROTC Scholarship Program: The U.S. Army is offering scholarships for students interested in participating in ROTC in college and who agree to accept a commission and serve in the Army on Active Duty or in the Guard or Reserve. The Army ROTC offers generous merit-based scholarships to qualified students. They can defray the full cost of tuition, and provide additional tax-free allowances for books, supplies, equipment, and necessary fees. The application deadline is March 4, 2021.     Georgia Energy and Industrial Construction Consortium Scholarship: GEICC is giving a minimum of five $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors involved in STEM.     Elks National Foundation: Most Valuable Student- This scholarship is offered to current high school seniors, or the equivalent. Applicants do not need to be related to a member of the Elks club. High school graduates are not eligible to apply. Applicants must be citizens of the United States on the date their applications are submitted; permanent legal resident status does not qualify.     The Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship: Each year the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation awards 150 college scholarships worth $20,000 to high school students across the United States throught the Coca-Cola Scholars. Program. Students need a 3.0 GPA and must fill out the online application. The deadline to turn in applications is October 31, 2020.     Local Scholarships:                                                                                                             Students, if you need teacher recommendations, please have the teachers email them to the emails provided in the scholarship descriptions. If a transcript is needed, please let Mrs. Farmer know and she will provide one for you. 

    North Georgia EMC Chairman's Memorial Scholarship: The NGEMC Chairman’s Memorial Scholarship is offered to high school seniors who live with a NGEMC member. The $2,500 scholarship is awarded to one senior in each of the seven counties served by NGEMC. Applications for the 2020-2021 school year will be available on this page beginning October 1, 2020.     Young Professionals Scholarship: One graduating high school senior will be awarded a $500 scholarship. Participating students are asked to submitt a resume, which consists of their academic achievements and extra curricular activities. Leadership roles while in high schools should be mentioned, as well as clear cut goals for the future. Once selected, students will participate in an interview where they will be asked to talk about thier goals, aspirations, etc. All students interested must see Dr. Walraven no later than February 1, 2021.

    Gordon County Farm Bureau Scholarship: Scholarships are awarded to high school seniors who are Farm Bureau members, who will pursue a career in an agricultural related field and demonstrate satisfactory grades. Completed applications are due on or before March 1, 2021. Applications may be emailed to tmlambert@gfbco.org or mailed to Gordon County Farm Bureau Scholarship Committee P.O. Box 1297 Calhoun, GA 30701.     GA Foundation for Agriculture Scholarships: The Georgia Foundation for Agriculture is committed to investing in students pursuing careers in agriculture or a related field. For 2021, the foundation is offering scholarships for graduating high school seniors. Visit www.GaFoundationAg.org/scholarships.html for a list of eligible majors/schools, application instructions and to apply.     C.V. Glassco Memorial Scholarship: The C.V. Glassco Memorial is offering eight $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors. This scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors from the counties served by the Family Savings Credit Union (Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, Gordon, Haralson, Paulding, Polk, and Walker). Applicants are eligible to apply for the scholarship without regard to race, religion, gender, national origin or disability. It is based heavily on students who volunteer and participate in community service activities. All applications must be submitted online and the deadline to submit is March 1, 2021.     Sam and Mae Byrd and Jake Puryear Detachment Scholarship: The $1,000 annual scholarship is available to high school seniors or current college enrollees whose family member is currently serving or has served in the Marine Corps or as a Fleet Marine Force Corpsman or Chaplain.     Shaw Dependent Scholarship: This scholarship was created to help the dependents of Shaw associates realize their dreams of continuing their education at a college, university or technical school. Students must exhibit a passion for creating a better future for themselves and their communities.     COAG Scholarship: The COAG Scholarship is open to any Georgia high school senior (or a GED equivalency dated December 31, 2020 to May 31, 2021) who is a United States and Georgia citizen graduating by the spring of 2021.  You must be seeking an undergraduate degree, not a diploma, certification, master’s or doctoral degree. Your completed application, residency documentation, acceptance letter, title page, and essay should be EMAILED to coagdirector@gmail.com no later than midnight on March 15, 2021 in ONE EMAIL, not several separate emails.     Christian Dyer Scholarship for Perseverance: This scholarship is designed to aid seniors at Sonoraville High School that are going to any higher institutions of learning after graduation. Recipients of this scholarship have performed well academically, invested in their community and have left a legacy of leadership and perseverance through outstanding character. To apply for this scholarship, applicants must print this document, answer the questions fully in writing, and mail the application to Christian Dyer Scholarship for Perseverance 230 Rocky Drive Athens, GA 30607 postmarked by March 24, 2021. For more information and the application, please click on the link listed. Christian Dyer Scholarship

    Gordon County Chamber Scholarship: The scholarship program is for graduating seniors, with no restrictions regarding race, religion, national origin, sex, or physical disability. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above, must provdie transcript and recommendation letter from high school counselor or teacher. The selection committee will look at activities in school, involvement in community, career goals, financial need, work experience, etc. All applications must be turned into the Counseling Office no later than March 30, 2021.     Better Business Bureau 2021 Student of Integrity Scholarship: The BBB scholarship is offered to current high school seniors. Applicants must complete the application form, write an essay of 500 words or less and submit a current transcript. Scholarships of $1,000 will be awarded and the Scholarship Fund will determine the number of scholarships. The application deadline is March 31, 2021.     Asa-Tuten Memorial GFSA Essay Contest: For thirty three years, the Georgia Fire Sprinkler Association essay contest has exposed thousands of high school seniors and their families to the life safety and property protection attributes of fire sprinklers. The Georgia Fire Sprinkler Association awards scholarships annually in the amount of $1,500, $1,000, and $750 to high school seniors through an essay writing contest.     Thomas Brown Scholarship: The Calhoun-Gordon County Alumni Bulldog, Inc. is sponsoring the Thomas Brown Scholarship for seniors who have been accepted to and plan to attend the University of Georgia. Students must turn in their application to the Counseling Office no later than April 28, 2021.     GCYF Scholarship: The Gordon County Young Farmers Scholarship is only offered to graduating students who, or whose parents, are members of Gordon County Young Farmers are eligible to apply. The application deadline is April 16, 2021.     Maurice M. Simmons Scholarship: The scholarship is sponsored annually by Victory Fellowship Center and was established to fulfill the ministry's vision of providing financial support for graduating high school seniors of Gordon County who desire to continue their education at an institution of higher learning. The awards are targeted towards students who have exhibited academic excellence, drive, and dedication. Focus is given to students in need of financial assistance and who have demonstrated the ability and commitment to receive a post-secondary degree. it is further desired that the student exhibit involvement in extracurricular activities and demonstrate a commitment to their community. For 2021, two general scholarships in the amounts of $1,500 and $1,000 and one nursing scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded.     Calhon Woman's Club Scholarship: The CWC would like to assist a student who needs assistance and who has the drive to receive a degree and to serve their community. This scholarship is based primarily on community service, need, and academic drive. This year, the award is $250 per scholarship. Please include one letter of reference from an unrelated adult who has worked with you as a teacher, employer, or supervisor for community service within the past 2 years. Please submit the application, in written form, to Calhoun Woman's Club P.O.     Geneva Parsons Scholarship: The Beta Tau Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma is offering the Geneva Parsons Scholarship, in the amount of $500, to a graduating female senior from each of the public high schools in the community who plans to pursue a career in education. Applicants must complete the application and write an essay explaining why they would like to become a teacher and any special financial needs they may have.     Gordon County Foundation/Harold Hughes Scholarship: Several scholarships will be awarded to students at SHS and GCHS. Selections will be based on academic performance, extracurricular participation, and financial need. These scholarships are funded by payroll contributions of the employees of Gordon County Schools. Applications must be completed electronically and printed. Handwritten copies will not be accepted. Students must have two teacher recommendations and they do no have to be typed. All applications must be turned into the Counseling Office no later than April 23, 2021.     Calhoun-Gordon County Retired Educators Association Scholarship: The Calhoun-Gordon County Retired Educators Association is sponsoring a $1,000 scholarship for a student who plans to pursue a career in Education.     Melanie Vaughn Memorial "Shine the Light" Scholarship: Melanie Vaughn shared the light of Christ and passion for kids through her work in the nursing field. To honor Melanie's life, work, and volunteerism, one Sonoraville High School student, who intends to pursue a career in the field of nursing, will be presented with an educational scholarship in the amount of $500.     Trent Thomason Scholarship: Applicants must be a graduating senior and interested in pursuing a degree in the field of Agriculture. Applicants must exemplify the following traits: strong work ethic, leadership, a desire to serve the community and be well respected by his/her peers. An application, essay and four letters of support must be completed. All completed applications must be turned into the counseling office no later than Friday, April 30, 2021.     Sarah Williams Youth Foundation Scholarship: SWYF is a civic organization that serves Gordon County and surrounding communities by providing hope and a positive vision. Sarah Williams was a student in Gordon County who passed away from, in 2010, from Neuroblastoma Cancer. Sarah's courage, strength, energy and optimism continue to serve as an inspiration to many. To honor Sarah, the SWYF will present one $1,000 educational scholarship to individuals in Adairsville, Calhoun, Gordon Central and Sonoraville High Schools to students who have overcome a major obstacle in their personal lives.     American Legion Post #47 Scholarship: The American Legion will be awarding 2, $500 scholarships to seniors graduation from a Gordon County High School. Applicants must be a direct descendant (child, grandchild, great-grandchild, etc.) or a legally adopted child of a veteran or an active duty member of the United States Military.  All applications must be turned in to Counseling Office no later than Monday, May 10, 2021.
