  • Gordon County Schools offers a variety of Learning Support Services for students throughout the district.  

    English to Speakers of Other Languages

    English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) is a state-funded instructional program for eligible English Learners (ELs) in grades K-12 (Georgia School Law Code 1981, § 20-2-156, enacted in 1985). The ESOL program is a standards-based curriculum emphasizing academic and social language development.


    Gifted Services

    In Georgia, a gifted education student is defined as one who demonstrates a high degree of intellectual and/or creative ability(ies), exhibits an exceptionally high degree of motivation, and/or excels in specific academic fields, and who needs special instruction and/or special ancillary services to achieve at levels commensurate with his or her ability(ies).


    Section 504

    Section 504 is designed to prohibit discrimination and to assure that disabled students have educational opportunities and benefits equal to those provided to non-disabled students.


    Speech and Language Support

    Speech and Language Support is offered to students who have an identified speech or language impairment.  Speech or language impairment refers to a communication disorder, such as stuttering, impaired articulation, language or voice impairment that adversely affects a child’s educational performance.


    Student Support Team

    The Student Support Team (SST) is a problem-solving process in every Georgia school. Its purpose is to find ways around roadblocks to success for any student referred to it.
