Degrees and Certifications:
Dr. Elizabeth Anderson
My name is Elizabeth Anderson and I am honored to serve as the principal at W. L. Swain. I have been employed with Gordon County Schools since graduating from Georgia Southern University in 1992 with a degree in early childhood education. I was recruited by Mr. David McLeod at Georgia Southern's teacher recruitment day. He approached me and ask if I would like to interview with him for a teaching position. I said yes and have been here ever since-starting my 28th year! I spent 8 years at Ashworth Middle School teaching special education in 6th-8th grade. During this time I earned my Master's degree in Education. In 2000, I left middle school to go back to my "elementary school roots". I taught special education at Belwood Elementary for 8 years. During my time at Belwood I served as the lead special education teacher and earned my Specialists degree in Educational Leadership. In 2004, I was awarded Belwood Elementary School's Teacher of the Year and Gordon County's Teacher of the Year. I left Belwood in 2008 to work as assistant principal at Red Bud Elementary School. In 2009, I was hired by Kelly Bumgardner to be her assistant principal at the new Sonoraville Elementary School. Within a year I was hired as principal and completed my doctorate in Education Administration. I served as principal at Sonoraville Elementary School for 4 years.
I am married to Grant Anderson who teaches at Gordon Central High School. He is also the assistant Cross Country Coach. I have two wonderful children. Sam graduated from Gordon Central High School in 2014 and is a 2019 graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a degree in nuclear engineering. He currently serves as an ensign in the U. S. Navy in the naval aviation community. My daughter, Timber, graduated from Gordon Central High School in 2015 and is a cadet at West Point- United States Military Academy. We are truly a proud Gordon County Schools' family!
