Mrs. Rebecca Richardson
Hello! Welcome to Connections Reading!
This school year marks my 28th year in education. This is my 20th year teaching in the public school settings of both Gordon County and Calhoun City Schools, teaching students in grades K - 8. Seven of those years were as a Literacy Specialist, serving as the Reading First Literacy Coach at Swain Elementary and the Literacy Specialist at Tolbert Elementary. My public school teaching experience also includes working as an ESOL and an ESS teacher.
My history in education other than in the public school setting includes working as an educational consultant and teacher-trainer in areas such as technology integration and project-based learning. I have worked through my family's business, Learning Labs, as well as my own consulting business, Technology Rich, and the Georgia Department of Education.
I began working as a 7th grade ELA teacher at Ashworth in February of the 2014-2015 school year when all four of my own children moved up from elementary to the AMS/GC campus. I was an Ashworth student myself as a 7th grader--the very first full year that Ashworth was open. At that time, Ashworth Middle was in the building where Gordon Central is located now. (That was WAY back in 1975!)
My husband John and I have both been residents of Gordon County since childhood. We are blessed to have four fantastic children. Their names are Lee Thomas (age 20, student at the University of GA), Heath (age 17, a senior at Gordon Central), and twins Lainey and John Micah (age 16, juniors at Gordon Central). We are avid campers and share our adventures at www.pbandjadventures.com. We are also a musical family. All four kids are actively involved in music. We are also involved in chorus and theater through GCPAA.
I LOVE to read, I LOVE to write, and I LOVE working with young people. I look forward to living the "reading life" with Ashworth Middle students throughout this school year!
