Mrs. Walden's 7th Grade Math Class

 Welcome to Seventh Grade!

A little about me…..My name is Marsha Walden and I am looking forward to my eleventh year in education. I live a few miles southwest in Rome, GA where I have lived all my life. I graduated from Model High School in 1983 and from Berry College in 1985 with a BA in Computer Science.

After college I worked at NWGA Regional Hospital for 11 years as a computer programmer and for the next ten years I worked as a Systems Analyst for Floyd County Government. I decided in 2005 that my heart was in teaching and opted to change career paths. I went back to Berry to pursue my Master's Degree and certification in Middle Grades Education.  And recently finished my Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

I was privileged to serve as SMS Teacher of the Year for the year 2011-2012.

My husband, Crawford, and I have one son, Hunter.

I am excited about the activities planned for our classroom and look forward to working with you to achieve a successful and rewarding school year experience for your 2018-2019 school year. In this class students will discover mathematics through a variety of methods. We will be using activities, technology, visuals, manipulatives (tactile objects) and group exploration to learn mathematical concepts and standards. The lessons will be created such that the students can connect the concepts to prior math knowledge and real life situations. I am dedicated to providing each student with a quality education and ensuring the student's success in my classroom.

All students deserve a positive and orderly classroom to promote an effective learning environment and I know we can make this a reality in our classroom. In order to accomplish the many goals I have planned for our classroom - respect will be of the utmost importance.
