Mrs. Hannah J. Nelson

Mrs. Hannah Nelson is a proud Phoenix Nation teacher, having spent her entire thirteen year career building the Choral and Theatre programs at Sonoraville High School. She began teaching in 2007 after attending Shorter College in Rome, Georgia. She also holds a Master's Degree in Music Education from Reinhardt University in Waleska, Georgia.

Mrs. Nelson directs the Beginning, Advanced Mixed, and Women's Choirs, as well as the auditioned extracurricular groups Caminetto Musicale Girls Ensemble and Wildfire Jazz Ensemble. She directs and coaches the GHSA Literary team consisting of Girls Solo, Boys Solo, Girls Trio, Boys Quartet and the Theatrical Oral Presentation in Comedic, Dramatic and Duo areas. Recently, the SHS Trio has placed 1st in 6AAA Region competition and are State Champions for 2017 and 2018.

Mrs. Nelson directs the GHSA One Act Play each autumn, the Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards production in the winter, and the annual Spring Musical.

Mrs. Nelson loves to travel and has lead student performance and exploration tours to New York City (annually), Washington, D.C., Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England, France, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Hungary.

Mrs. Nelson resides in Calhoun with her husband, Daniel, and their new son, Asher.
