Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Melanie Johnson
Welcome everyone! My name is Melanie Johnson and I’m proud to be the School Counselor here at TES. I am proud to be the School Counselor at Tolbert Elementary and consider myself very fortunate to be in the position to serve students and families in the Tolbert community. I'm a graduate of Presbyterian College where I earned my BS in Psychology. In addition, I earned a Masters in Social Work degree from Valdosta State University and my School Counseling Certification from the University of West Georgia. I have been serving as a school counselor since 2000.
In Gordon County, School Counselors believe all students can achieve success in school and life. We believe the school counseling program is an essential and integral part of the overall educational process. Our School Counseling program standards are provided by the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) Mindsets and Behaviors for College and Career Readiness and is comprehensive in scope, preventive in design and developmental in nature. These standards are delivered through classroom guidance lessons, small group interventions, and brief individual interventions. Through this delivery model Gordon County Schools Counselors hope to provide students with the skills to be successful in school, college, and their chosen career.
My door is always open, so please feel free to stop by or call me any time. I look forward to getting to know you and your family this school year.
