M.Ed. in Communication Sciences and Disorders - Speech Language Pathology, University of Georgia

Ms. Frances Fowler

I’m Frances Fowler, the speech-language pathologist (SLP) at W.L. Swain Elementary.  I also serve students for speech services at Ashworth Middle School.  This is my twenty-second year as an SLP in Gordon County.  Most students call me Miss Frances, and to them I’m the speech teacher, not the SLP!

I am professionally qualified in the state of Georgia in the area of Speech-Language Pathology.  I received a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Education in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Georgia.  In addition, I also carry a Reading Endorsement.

A daughter of educators, my parents instilled a passion in their three children to be lifelong learners.  I grew up surrounded by books and share my love of language and literature with my students.  I have a wonderful daughter (who also happens to be the funniest person I know) and much adored son-in law, and I love dogs.  Most of my students hear about my daughter and my beloved senior dog, Linus, at some point!

I truly appreciate and encourage your support and input.  You can reach me by calling W.L. Swain at (706) 629-0141, sending an e-mail to, or just drop me a note in your child's book bag any time!

Looking forward to a great year –

Frances Fowler, M.Ed., SLP
