Mr. Andrew McLeod
Dear Parents and stakeholders of Gordon County Schools,
My Name is Andrew McLeod, and I am the music teacher at W.L. Swain Elementary School. I am a professionally qualified Music educator for grades K-12, and we will learn about, perform, and create music throughout the year using engaging, high-energy, and high-quality methodologies and strategies.
I am a native of Calhoun, and graduated from Gordon Central High School. I have a bachelor's degree in Voice Performance from Shorter College ('08), and completed the Georgia Teacher Academy for Preparation and Pedagogy (GaTAPP) in 2013. I am honored to be named District Teacher of the Year for Gordon County Schools for 2018-2019.
Personally and professionally, I perform with the prestigious Atlanta Master Chorale, a 60-member ensemble based out of the Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts; I have performed concerts with Emmy-award winning composer Ramin Djawadi, as well as film score composer Hans Zimmer. I have also performed in operas, musicals, and with the Chattanooga Symphony choir. I am also a minister of music at my church. I have been a music teacher for more than seven years in elementary schools.
I love helping kids find success and interest in music through its many facets, and I bring to my classroom the experiences and knowledge I have from my own professional adventures and education, which translates into skills we can use to expand our musical horizons in the school setting and beyond.
I am very excited to be a part of Gordon County schools and W.L. Swain Elementary!
