Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Kim Crider
I would like to welcome you and your child to W.L. Swain Elementary School and to Kindergarten! I am excited to start this school year, and I am very excited about the fact that the beginning of your child’s journey in elementary school will be here at W.L. Swain Elementary, “where learning shapes extraordinary students.” This year your child will grow educationally and socially, and will be fully prepared to enter 1st grade.
I earned my BA in Education from Shorter University in 2017, I have a T-4 certificate, and am professionally qualified to teach your child. This is my first-year teaching kindergarten, but my second-year teaching. I taught fifth grade last year, and I feel that because I know exactly where your child is headed, I can better prepare them. I have spent my time as a new teacher learning ideas and strategies to use in the classroom, and look forward to implementing many of those this year. I love teaching and working with students. There is no other profession I would rather be a part of than education. Our class also has a highly qualified paraprofessional serving as a teaching assistant, Mrs. Patterson. She is very excited to be working with your child as well!
I know my teaching must begin by making your child feel at home in our room. It is imperative that I begin creating a positive and safe learning environment that fosters success for all students by focusing on your child’s individual learning needs. Therefore, this must begin on the first day of school. I have high expectations for all students. Each student will be challenged at his or her individual learning level to progress and excel. I truly believe that all students can and will succeed with the right guidance and encouragement.
I will be using Class DOJO to provide you with weekly newsletters, class information, reminders, and other important information along with sharing your child’s behavior. Please follow these communications closely as they will help keep you informed about what we’re doing at school, but also how your child is doing in school. I also encourage you to sign up for the Infinite Campus Parent Portal—see Robin Bohannon in the front office for more information.
I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year.
