Mrs. Monica M. McGuire
I grew up in Gordon County going to Swain, Ashworth and then graduating from Gordon Central in the first graduating class of 1989. I began Kennesaw State University after my son turned two years old. I graduated in May of 2003 with a bachelor's degree of Science in Early Childhood Education. I have since received my Reading Endorsement and Mathematics Endorsement from Northwest Georgia Regional Educational Service Agency (NWGaRESA) and my ESOL – English as a Second Language Endorsement through Pioneer RESA. Most recently, I received my Master’s Degree of Education in TESOL (teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) in May of 2020 from Kennesaw State University.
I am married to Tony McGuire of Adairsville. We have one son, Bryson, who began his college career in August of 2020. As a family, we enjoy traveling and have visited all of the United States from Maine to California, and Florida to Washington including Alaska and, most recently, Hawaii. We have also visited much of Canada and the Caribbean Islands, including Cozumel, Mexico. We enjoy experiencing other cultures and spending time outdoors.
This will be my seventh year as a teacher in ESOL. I am greatly looking forward to applying everything I have learned to the classroom. I will be joining my students while they are in their classroom. We will be working on improving each ELL’s (English Language Learner) proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing in English. I continually complete ESOL professional development through WIDA, the leading center for ESOL training, program development and research.
