Mrs. Carrie Thompson

Welcome to the Fairmount Elementary School Counselor's Webpage!

My name is Carrie Thompson and I am the guidance counselor here at Fairmount Elementary School.   This is my 21st year at FES and I am honored to be serving the families of this sweet community.   I am a native of Gordon County with my roots being in the Red Bud farm community.   Fairmount has such a special place in my heart and I truly do love my role as the counselor!   I believe that showing genuine kindness and compassion are perhaps the most important qualities to being an effective counselor.  Listening is critical and every person has a story and a right to be heard.  I honestly try every day to make a positive difference in these young lives.

Outside of school, I love to spend time with family and friends.  My hobbies include playing the piano, writing songs, poetry, and children's books.   I also enjoy antiquing, hand building/pottery, basket weaving, reading historical biographies, and watching old movies.   When traveling, I find peace when walking on the beach and hiking in the mountains and seeing the beauty of waterfalls, rainbows, sunrises, and sunsets.   Like John Muir, I feel the mountains calling me to their quiet song of serenity.

Please know that I am here to help in any way.
