Dr. Jeff Clance

Dr. Clance has been employed with the Gordon County School District since July 2000, and has served in various roles -- counselor at Ashworth Middle School, Director of Student Services, Director of Human Resources, and currently as counselor with Gordon Central High School. Prior to that, he served as a juvenile probation officer in Cartersville, GA, Assistant and Interim Director of the Rome Regional Youth Detention Center, and Program Manager for Three Rivers Behavioral Health Services in Calhoun, GA.

Dr. Clance received a Ty Cobb Educational Foundation Scholarship to Oxford College of Emory University where he graduated in 1986 with an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts.  He continued his post-secondary education by attending the University of Georgia and in 1988 completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.  In 1997, he graduated from Georgia State University with a Master's Degree in Professional Counseling, and in 2014 was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Educational Leadership from Mercer University.  Dr. Clance is licensed by the State of Georgia as a Professional Counselor and has attained national board certification in Professional Counseling and School Counseling.

He has been active in the community while serving on the boards of several agencies/organizations such as the Northwest Georgia System of Care Advisory Council, the United Way of Gordon County Board of Directors, the Inclusive Education Advisory Board at Kennesaw State University, and the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce Drugs Don't Work and Education & Workforce Development Committees  He is also a 2008 graduate of the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program and serves as an Adjunct Professor with Piedmont College.

Dr. Clance has two incredible sons who are juniors at Gordon Central High School – Jude, a fine arts enthusiast, is actively involved in the choral and drama programs at GCHS and is a member of the 2021 State Champion Men's Quartet. Nathan, a percussionist and sports fan, serves as Drum Major for the GCHS Blue Wave Band and is a member of the Gordon Central tennis team. Debbie Clance, Dr. Clance’s amazing wife, retired July 1, 2021, after 30 years of service to Gordon County Schools -- the last 17 years as Assistant Principal at Belwood Elementary School.
