My name is Nicole Blalock. I have lived in Gordon County since 2001. I am so excited to be the Counselor at Belwood Elementary School, where we Build Exceptional Students! I am professionally qualified to work with students at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. I graduated from Berry College in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Family Studies. In 2011, I earned my Master of Education with a concentration in School Counseling from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Prior to becoming a school counselor, I worked as a Forensic Interviewer with the Northwest Georgia Child Advocacy Center and as a DFCS Case Manager. I am married, have four children and four fur babies (1 cat & 3 dogs). My youngest daughter attends Red Bud Middle School. I believe that all students can achieve!
School Counseling programs are an integral part of the overall education of each student. School Counseling program standards are provided by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and are comprehensive in scope, preventative in design, and developmental in nature. Our standards focus on three developmental domains: academic, career, and social/emotional (personal) and are delivered through classroom core curriculum lessons, small group interventions, and individual interventions. School Counseling interventions are brief and solution centered and have a goal of helping students focus on their day at school. Referrals to outside agencies will be provided when more in-depth interventions may be deemed beneficial. Through this delivery model Gordon County School Counselors hope to provide students with the skills needed to be successful at school and in life.
