Mr. Scott McClanahan
Mr. McClanahan understands the transformative power of education and is committed to serving the students, staff, stakeholders, and local community as Principal of The Gordon County College and Career Academy.
Mr. McClanahan began his public education career at Norcross High School in Gwinnett County as a classroom teacher and athletic coach. Later, he taught and coached at Science Hill High School in Johnson City, TN, and then he moved to the Northwest Georgia area working at Ringgold Middle School. While at Ringgold Middle School, Mr. McClanahan began his administrative career as an Assistant Principal. In 2007 he started his tenure as a Principal with Gordon County Schools at Ashworth Middle School; from 2010-2013, he served as Principal at Gordon Central High School and from 2013-2020 again at Ashworth Middle School. McClanahan was also a collegiate football coach at The University of Texas-El Paso, Samford University, and The University of the Cumberlands. He begins his 14th year as a Principal with Gordon County Schools.
Born and raised in Liberty, South Carolina, Mr. McClanahan obtained his bachelor's degree from Carson-Newman University. He received his master's degree from The University of the Cumberlands and his specialist degree from Lincoln Memorial University.
Mr. McClanahan and his wife have four children combined and 1 granddaughter.
