Gordon County Families -- the USDA has approved FREE meals (both breakfast and lunch) through September 30, 2021. Meals are available to all Gordon County students in their school cafeterias, and also to students studying online and to all children 18 and under by using our Meal Pick-Up service at each school. Please scroll down to see our Meal Pick-Up flyers for details.
Our Summer Feeding program will operate during June and July when schools are closed. Please check this website or call 706-625-0786 in the coming weeks for more details about Summer Meals.
Dear Gordon County Families,
During this time of COVID-19, some families may be experiencing difficulty putting food on the table. There is help out there. Please see the flyer below about FoodFinder.us (https://foodfinder.us), a website that lists food pantries across the United States. Also, please know that all Gordon County school cafeterias provide Meal Pick-Up service for all children ages 0-18 -- please see the flyer above for those details. Children DO NOT have to be registered in Gordon County Schools to receive meals at Meal Pick-Up. Call the School Nutrition Office if you have any questions: 706-625-0786 or access our Facebook page at Facebook\Gordon County School Nutrition
No more My Payments Plus - Now use SchoolCafé
Parents: We have changed our software provider and no longer utilize My Payments Plus for online access to your child's lunchroom account. Please visit www.schoolcafe.com or download the mobile app to your smartphone if you wish to set up an account in our new software program. It is not necessary to use an account to pay for lunches, however. You can still send cash or check to school with your child, and your cafeteria staff will deposit it into your student's record. However, you can use a SchoolCafé account to do other things, so it is a helpful tool -- in addition to managing your child's lunch money, you will be able to:
--apply for Free & Reduced Lunch benefits (You can still use a paper application, however.)
--receive low balance alerts
--view menus and ingredients
--set restrictions on your child's account; for example, to prevent or limit purchases of extra items like snacks and beverages
Call 706-625-0786 with any questions.
Please scroll down for more information about Free & Reduced applications.
Free and Reduced Lunch Applications
We are now accepting applications for Free and Reduced Lunches. The easiest and fastest way to apply is online at www.schoolcafe.com or on the mobile app on your smartphone. You must create an account for your child or children, then click on the Apply button on the left side of the screen. Call 706-625-0786 or 706-879-5011 if you have questions or want help to walk you through the application. Paper applications are also available at all schools or from the School Nutrition Office.
The Gordon County Schools' Nutrition Department is a vital part of the overall educational experience for students in the district, contributing to the academic success of students by encouraging a lifetime of healthy eating through our breakfast & lunch meal programs. Our meals utilize locally-grown produce and foods that are incorporated into delicious and nutritious menu items, which are prepared and served by caring, dedicated professional staff in a friendly environment. All of our school facilities provide meal service that meets the USDA dietary guidelines.
The staff of the nutrition department oversees ten food service facilities that serve more than 350,000 breakfasts and 750,000 lunches annually, along with snacks for after school activities, numbering more than 80,000. In May 2018, the Board of Education approved a free breakfast program that will enable all students to eat breakfast at school, free of charge. The summer feeding program provides meals to students in multiple locations throughout the community to ensure children are well nourished throughout the summer months.
