• The Gordon County Schools' Nutrition Department is a vital part of the overall educational experience for students in the district, contributing to the academic success of students by encouraging a lifetime of healthy eating through our breakfast & lunch meal programs. Our meals utilize locally-grown produce and foods that are incorporated into delicious and nutritious menu items, which are prepared and served by caring, dedicated professional staff in a friendly environment. All of our school facilities provide meal service that meets the USDA dietary guidelines.

The staff of the nutrition department oversees ten food service facilities that serve more than 350,000 breakfasts and 750,000 lunches annually, along with snacks for after school activities, numbering more than 80,000.  In May 2018, the Board of Education approved a free breakfast program that will enable all students to eat breakfast at school, free of charge.  The summer feeding program provides meals to students in multiple locations throughout the community to ensure children are well nourished throughout the summer months.
