Return to Headlines

Gordon County Schools is looking forward to welcoming back our students on August 12. We have heard from many students who are very excited about returning to school, but we also know we have students and families who are nervous about it as well. We want you to know that we have been planning for months for our return, and we are working closely with state and local health officials and are implementing many changes to help keep us all safe. This includes changes to the way our schools and classrooms look, the way we clean our schools, and how we will interact with each other.

To help us ensure we are doing all we can to control the spread of the virus, students and staff will be strongly encouraged to wear face coverings - particularly in areas where distancing is difficult to accomplish. These areas might include hallways during class transitions, during arrival and dismissal times, or when riding the bus. The school system has already been gifted enough face coverings to provide one to every student or staff member who doesn’t have their own, and we are expecting another shipment this week.

To further assist our families with planning, we have prepared an informational presentation and have developed a frequently-asked questions page, both of which have been posted on our website at Additionally, in the coming weeks, we will be releasing a series of videos to illustrate changes as we head back to school.

Thank you for your cooperation as we work to safety welcome back students this fall. As always, it is a pleasure to serve the students of Gordon County Schools.
