  • Gordon County Schools  -   Public Notice

    What:     Special Education Private/Homeschool Consultation for Students with Disabilities (as required by IDEA 2004)

    Who:      Parents and Guardians of Home School and Private School Students with Disabilities ages 3-21.

    When:    May 30, 2019; 10:00 AM

    Where:   Gordon County Schools Central Office

                   BOE Conference Room (ESS Building)

                   205 Warrior Path, Calhoun, GA  30701

    At the meeting the Special Education Director will discuss:

    1. The Child Find process.

     

    1. The determination of proportionate share of funds available to serve parentally placed private and home school children with disabilities, including how that amount is calculated.

     

    1. The consultation procedures and how they operate.

     

    1. How, where, and by whom special education services and/or related services will be provided and a discussion of the type of services.

     

    1. How the Local Education Agency (LEA) will notify private / home school officials of the reason why the LEA chose not to provide services if the LEA and provider disagree.

  • 2019-2020 BUDGET MEETINGS ANNOUNCED

    The Gordon County Board of Education will hold a public meetings on the budget, for school year 2019-2020, on May 13, 2019 and June 10, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. at the Gordon County College and Career Academy, 305 Beamer Road, Calhoun, Georgia. During this meeting, the public will have the opportunity to provide input on the budget. A copy of the budget can be requested by contacting the Central Office at 706-629-7366 or visiting our website at www.gcbe.org.

  • HB 91; ELIGIBILITY FOR HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA 

    An individual (hereinafter referred to as “Student”) no longer enrolled in a Georgia public school and who previously failed to receive a high school diploma in this state or was denied graduation solely for failing to achieve a passing score on one or more portions of the Georgia High School Graduation Tests or its predecessor or the Georgia High School Writing Test or its predecessor may petition the local board of education in which he or she was last enrolled to determine the student’s eligibility to receive a high school diploma pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 20-2-281.1 based on the graduation requirements in effect when the student first entered ninth grade. Complete the application to petition Gordon County Schools to determine eligibility for a student under this guidance.  For more information contact Mike Evelti, Student Services Director.
