GCHS senior Nora Murphy was recognized as Student of the Month at the Calhoun Women’s Club meeting on April 16th. She was nominated by her teacher, Mrs. Albright, for her outstanding achievement in the Teaching as a Profession pathway and her leadership as FCCLA president. Nora plans to attend Berry College this fall, where she will major in music education.
She was honored during the Calhoun Women’s Club Reception and received flowers along with a $50 gift card in recognition of her dedication and hard work. We extend our sincere thanks to the Calhoun Women’s Club for providing this meaningful opportunity. #ExtraordinaryGCHSStudents

Mrs. Massengill currently serves as assistant principal at Gordon Central High School, where she has supported students, teachers, and families for the past six years. In her role, she has led curriculum, assessment, and instructional improvement initiatives; coordinated state and national assessments; and supported student discipline and overall school operations.
Prior to becoming assistant principal at Gordon Central, Mrs. Massengill served for 27 years in education, including 25 years in Gordon County Schools, with experience at both Sonoraville Middle School and Sonoraville High School. Her previous roles include instructional specialist and classroom teacher, as well as coaching for more than half of her career. Throughout her professional journey, she has been committed to servant leadership, student-centered decision making, and fostering positive, supportive school cultures.
Mrs. Massengill holds a Leadership Endorsement from the University of West Georgia and advanced degrees in instruction, curriculum, and education from the University of West Georgia, Piedmont College, and North Georgia College & State University.
“I am a proud 1995 graduate of Gordon Central High School and am deeply honored to serve this school and community as principal,” Mrs. Massengill said. “Gordon Central is my home, and I am committed to supporting our students and staff while continuing the tradition of excellence that defines this school.”
Mrs. Massengill will succeed Dr. Amy Parker, who is retiring after dedicating her entire career to serving Gordon County Schools. Gordon County Schools thanks Dr. Parker for her leadership and lasting impact on the Gordon Central High School community.

🏀 Homeroom March Madness Finale! 🏀
In today’s final event, the sophomore champions (Mrs. Watts’ class) faced off against the junior champions (Mrs. Scoggins’ class) in an exciting game of tug‑of‑war 💪.
After an intense showdown, Mrs. Scoggins’ class pulled out the win 🏆 and earned the Championship trophy! 🎉
They’ll also celebrate with a pizza party 🍕 when we return to school on April 13.
