Gordon County Schools proudly celebrated our Georgia REACH Scholars today during a special recognition and signing ceremony. We honored 8th graders Kylie Hardin, Dustin Ramirez, Kassandra Rubio, Madelyn Shulas, and Jesus Taboada Hernandez for being selected as Georgia REACH Scholars and for the commitment they are making to their future success.
Through REACH, which stands for "Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen," students are paired with mentors and academic support while committing to strong attendance, positive behavior, and continued academic success. In return, scholars earn a guaranteed college scholarship of up to $10,000 to support their postsecondary goals.
Today’s ceremony marked an important milestone as students signed their commitment statements, symbolizing their dedication to perseverance, integrity, and excellence. Families, educators, mentors, and community supporters joined together to celebrate the beginning of this meaningful journey and the promise it represents.
Thank you to the academic advisors who will support these scholars moving forward, led by Gordon Central High School graduation coach Jamey Angland and Sonoraville High School assistant principal Ashley Brookshire.
Congratulations to our Georgia REACH Scholars. We are proud of you and excited to support you as you continue working toward a bright and successful future!
