Mrs. Stamey was celebrated today by Superintendent Alice Mashburn alongside her school leaders, Principal Kelly Rampy and Assistant Principal Nicole Burgess, as well as her 5th grade team.
A dedicated educator since 2009, Mrs. Stamey currently teaches math, science, and social studies. Throughout her career, she has also served students as a 2nd and 3rd grade teacher at Sonoraville Elementary and as an Early Intervention teacher at W.L. Swain Elementary. Beyond the classroom, she has taken on leadership roles including Grade Level Leader of Leaders and teacher mentor, while also giving back through community service with the Voluntary Action Center and United Way.
Mrs. Stamey believes compassion is key to meeting the challenges of today’s classrooms. She works daily to ensure her students feel safe, valued, and ready to learn, an approach that has made a lasting impact on both student achievement and school culture.
Her commitment to student growth, character development, and community involvement makes her truly deserving of this honor. She will now represent Gordon County Schools as the District Teacher of the Year for the upcoming school year and apply for Georgia Teacher of the Year.
Gordon County Schools congratulates Mrs. Stamey on this well-deserved recognition and thanks her for her continued service, leadership, and dedication to educational excellence in our school system.

Yesterday, the SES Book Club celebrated its final meeting of the year with our very own Edible Books Festival! 📚🍬
Students used edible materials to design and build houses inspired by books they read this year, and their creativity was incredible!
A panel of teachers selected this year’s award winners:
🏆 Addie Green – Best Use of Materials
🏆 Damian Aguilar – Most Realistic
🏆 Finley Wiggins – Most Creative
We’ve had such a fun and memorable year in Book Club, and we are so proud of all of our readers. We already can’t wait to see what next year brings! ❤️📖✨

Please join us for 6th Grade Parent Night on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Red Bud Middle School. The event will be held in the gym, starting at 5:30 PM.
This evening will provide important information about the upcoming school year, meet the staff, and answer any questions you may have. Don’t miss it!

The SHS Construction class recently visited Mrs. Stamey’s 5th grade science class at SES to teach students about electrical circuits. During the visit, they explained the different parts of a circuit, how to build one, and the function of each component. Students then participated in a hands-on activity where they created their own circuits and tested them. By completing a closed circuit, they were able to see electricity in action as their light bulbs lit up!
We are so proud of our students for sharing their knowledge, leading by example, and inspiring future learners!

Gordon County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay Monday, March 16, due to the potential for severe weather in the morning. Weather conditions can be unpredictable, and this delay is being implemented to help ensure the safety of our drivers, bus riders, faculty, and families tomorrow morning.
Please adjust your child’s morning drop-off time by two hours. Buses will also operate on a two-hour delay behind their usual route times. Elementary schools will begin at 9:30 a.m. Middle and high schools will begin at 10:30 a.m.
We will continue to monitor weather conditions closely and are working with local agencies as needed. If any additional changes become necessary, families will be notified promptly through our communication channels.

In honor of National School Breakfast Week, our SES cafeteria transformed into a royal castle for a medieval-themed Celebrity Servers Breakfast! Princes and princesses filled the kingdom as we welcomed brave knights from the Gordon County Sheriff's Office and our honored guest, Superintendent Alice Mashburn.
Our special visitors traded badges and briefcases for serving trays as they helped serve breakfast to our royal court. It was a morning full of smiles, castle décor, and reminders that a healthy breakfast helps our students start the day strong and ready to learn! 🥞🍎
We are so grateful for community leaders who support our school and celebrate the importance of school breakfast with us. Long live Phoenix Pride! ❤️🖤
