Who’s Invited: All K-12th grade youth who live or attend school in Gordon County
What to Expect:
Explore our clubs, competitive teams, contests, projects, camps, and leadership and community service opportunities.
Enjoy shaved ice, snacks, inflatables, live animals, games, music, and more.

Good evening! We have had a great first week. Students are making new friends and learning new routines. Our car rider lines ran much smoother this morning, and I am proud of the effort students and families have made to be on time for learning. I hope you have a wonderful, restful weekend.

United Way is proud to announce the return of the Unity Run Kid's Race for 2024! It will be Sunday, September 22, at Gordon Central High School. This is a FREE Family Fun Day that will include several different races, event t-shirts, fun inflatables, food, and prizes.
The races will be for kids up to 12 years old. Registration is required for race participation to order the correct number of shirts, complete the parental participation agreement, and prepare enough food for the event.

We are thrilled to welcome Mrs. Shelly Queen to the Tolbert Elementary family!
Mrs. Queen is delighted to teach first grade at Tolbert Elementary. With 28 years of teaching experience and an Ed.S in Curriculum and Instruction, she brings a strong background in math and literacy to the classroom.
Married for 30 years, Shelly has raised two wonderful children and enjoys the company of Millee, a lovable 10-year-old dog who brings joy to their family. In her leisure time, Shelly enjoys camping, spending time with family and friends, and reading. She is looking forward to a fantastic school year ahead!

We are thrilled to welcome Mrs. Joni Garrett to the Tolbert Elementary family!
Originally from Chattanooga, TN, Mrs. Garrett brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her role. She holds a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and recently earned her master's degree in Education from Piedmont University.
Mrs. Garrett is dedicated to helping students achieve their full potential and encourages them to embrace challenges in their learning journey. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dogs. Her commitment to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment promises to make a lasting impact on her second-grade students at Tolbert Elementary.

We are thrilled to welcome Ms. Katie Hartel to the Tolbert Elementary family!
Ms. Hartel brings over five years of experience teaching music and theatre to children through local programs. This year, she begins her journey as an elementary school music teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Theatre and a Minor in Dance. Ms. Hartel is dedicated to education and plans to pursue a Master’s in Education in 2025.
Outside of school, Ms. Hartel enjoys reading, crocheting, acting in plays and musicals, spending time with her family, and snuggling with her dog, Petey. She is eager to meet all her students and looks forward to the exciting year ahead!

Ms. May, embarking on her first year of teaching, joins us as a first-grade teacher with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Special Education. Originally from Brunswick, Georgia, she recently relocated to Calhoun with her fiancé, Alex, and they are eagerly preparing for their wedding in 2025.
In her free time, Ms. May enjoys exploring new places, pursuing art projects, and cherishing moments with loved ones. We are excited to have Ms. May bring her passion and dedication to Tolbert Elementary!
