GORDON COUNTY SCHOOLS ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENTS

Calhoun, GA – July 7, 2023 - Gordon County Schools (GCS), a leading educational institution committed to excellence in education, is pleased to announce the addition of a second Assistant Superintendent to its organizational structure and the appointment of two new Assistant Superintendents. These strategic appointments mark a significant step in enhancing the district's leadership team and furthering its mission to provide a high-quality education for all students.

 With a focus on continuous improvement and student success, Gordon County Schools recognizes the importance of strong leadership to meet the evolving needs of its diverse community. The newly appointed Assistant Superintendents will play instrumental roles in driving the system's strategic initiatives, fostering collaboration among stakeholders, ensuring equitable educational opportunities for every student, and providing opportunities and support for educators. 

 Ms. Kederia (Sket) Angland has been appointed as the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the role. With a proven track record in promoting academic leadership, implementing innovative strategies, and spearheading transformative initiatives, Angland will be responsible for overseeing CTAE, early learning, elementary and secondary education, exceptional student services, school improvement, and technology. 

 Additionally, Gordon County Schools welcomes the appointment of Mr. Justin Timms as the Assistant Superintendent of Operations. Having demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence in his previous positions, Timms will ensure the efficient and effective operation of the district, allowing educators and staff to focus on delivering the best possible education to our students. As the Assistant Superintendent of Operations, Timms will oversee a wide range of critical functions, including facilities, human resources, maintenance, student services, and transportation. 

Both the newly appointed Assistant Superintendents will work closely with the Superintendent and the Board of Education to implement innovative solutions that support student achievement and address the system's goals. The combined expertise of Angland and Timms leadership will undoubtedly elevate the educational experience for students, teachers, and the community as a whole. 

Commenting on the appointments, Alice Mashburn, Superintendent of Gordon County Schools, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "We are delighted to welcome Ms. Angland and Mr. Timms to our system leadership team.
