introducing WL Swain Elementary School Assistant Principal Stacy Calvert

CALHOUN, GA – Gordon County Schools (GCS) Board of Education voted to approve Stacy Calvert as the new Assistant Principal of W.L. Swain Elementary during the March board meeting. Calvert will begin her new role during the 2022-2023 school year. 

Calvert succeeds Tara Green, who was recently appointed as the new Principal of W.L. Swain Elementary for the upcoming school year. 

"I am honored to begin serving as Assistant Principal at W.L. Swain Elementary,” said Calvert. “I'm very excited to support the Swain students in their journey and for this great opportunity to work with Mrs. Greenstaff, parents and the entire W.L. Swain community.” 

Calvert joined the Gordon County Schools system in 1995 as aelementary education teacher at Tolbert Elementary (TES). Having served her entire 26-year career at TES, Calvert has served the school as a literacy academic coach, member of the emergency safety team, writing grants, providing guidance as a member of the report card committee, and was highly involved with the tutoring and summer enrichment programs. Currently, she serves as the Instructional Lead Teacher at TES

After earning a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from the University of South Florida in 1994, Calvert went on to receive her Master of Science in Early Childhood Education in 2008. Throughout her journey, she has earned multiple accolades including being named the 2001 Teacher of the Year2013 Teacher of the Year and the Gordon County Schools system STAR Teacher for 2014. 

Calvert is a long-time resident of Gordon County and is married to her husband, WadeThey share two sons, both Gordon County Schools graduates, Aaron and Hunter
