CALHOUN, GA – Gordon County Schools (GCS) recently earned the Award of Excellence by the Georgia Education Workers' Compensation Trust (GEWCT) for dedication to safety and in recognition of an outstanding safety year.

The Georgia Education Workers’ Compensation Trust (GEWCT) is a group self-insurance program designed by School Superintendents in Georgia and has been providing workers’ compensation for school systems in the state of Georgia since 1991. The GEWCT was established to provide a stable source of workers’ compensation coverage to Georgia’s school districts faculty and staff.

The Award of Excellence is presented to school systems that maintain a 25%, or less, ratio of loss claims. Gordon County Schools Benefits & Workers’ Comp Coordinator, Angel Dawson, accepted the award on behalf of the GCS school system at the annual shareholders conference earlier this spring.
