Fairmount Elementary students in Mrs. Davis’ class practiced important reading skills as they read along with her and discussed the setting of a story. These conversations help build strong readers who can think deeply about what they read.

It was a great day of learning and literacy at FES!

Fairmount Elementary was honored to celebrate Judith Cunningham as she became the first recipient of the Hands in Action All-Star Award from Helping Hands Ending Hunger.

Helping Hands Ending Hunger Founder Carla Harward and Community Impact Manager Faith Cole visited FES to present this special recognition in front of Fairmount Elementary faculty and staff who help support the HHEH initiative. Superintendent Alice Mashburn and Executive Director of Finance Mendy Goble were also present to celebrate Judith’s hard work, leadership, and commitment to helping feed children in need throughout the Fairmount community.

Helping Hands Ending Hunger is a Kids Helping Kids program that empowers students to turn compassion into action. Through the program, students help fight hunger, support their communities, and learn the importance of service, leadership, empathy, and purpose.

The Hands in Action All-Star Award recognizes an exceptional school coordinator who brings this mission to life in a meaningful way. Judith’s dedication helps cultivate student leadership, spark creativity, support meaningful learning, and build a culture of kindness and service at Fairmount Elementary.

This recognition is also a celebration of the teamwork and commitment shown by the FES faculty, staff, and students who help make the program successful. We are proud of Judith and the lasting impact she is making for students, families, and the Fairmount community!

Fairmount Elementary kicked off back to school with a great day of learning and exploration!

Ms. Tallant’s first grade class enjoyed reading a book together, while Mrs. Clark’s STEAM students jumped right into hands-on building activities. It was exciting to see students engaged, curious, and ready to start the year strong.

We are looking forward to a wonderful year of growing, connecting, and succeeding together.

FES staff
Good morning FES families…This is Mrs. Champion with a warm welcome back message. We are excited to welcome students back tomorrow, August 7. Please make sure you have completed your child’s paperwork from open house and that the return-to-school documents are sent back tomorrow. Parents are welcome to walk their children to their classrooms tomorrow and Monday. Beginning Tuesday, August 11th, all students will need to be dropped off in the car rider line unless they are arriving by bus.
We will need your help in the mornings to make our car rider line more efficient and keep the safety of our students as our number one priority. All students arriving to school as a car rider should be dropped off in the car rider line, not in the parking lot in front of the school or in the side or back parking lots near the office. These areas are reserved for students with special circumstances and parents have already met with me to make these arrangements. If you feel that your child needs a special arrangement, please call the school to set up a time to meet with me. Please have your students unbuckled and ready to exit the car before you pull up to the sidewalk where our teachers are stationed to assist students. Parents, please do not get out of your car in the line. If your child needs help, our staff will assist them. Many parents are pushed for time to make it to work without a late penalty. Please make sure the door your child will be using is free from objects that could fall out of the car. Also, for afternoon car rider line, please do not line up until 1:30pm or after to pick your child up.
Thank you all so much for your help with keeping our students safe and helping our car rider line run smoothly!
On behalf of the entire faculty/staff…Welcome Back! This is going to be the best year ever at FES!!
