Congratulations to Fairmount Elementary teacher Mrs. Mandy Futch on being named a District Teacher of the Year finalist!

Mrs. Futch currently serves as a special education teacher and has previously taught Early Intervention, fifth grade science and social studies, and fourth grade reading and English language arts. Mandy joined Gordon County Schools in 2021 after teaching in Folkston, Georgia, and North Carolina, where she began her career as a special education teacher assistant in 2013. She also proudly served four years in the United States Marine Corps. She is also an active volunteer with the Southeast German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue and helps provide resources to local families in need.

Mandy believes in that building strong connections with students is the foundation for academic growth. Her unwavering dedication to students, belief in the power of productive struggle, and commitment to fostering independence make her truly deserving of this recognition.
