Sonoraville High School ECE teacher Mrs. Lori Holland and three students from Gordon County Schools attended the Georgia Department of Education’s first-ever Teach in the Peach Statewide Educator Signing Day at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.
Modeled after athletic signing days, the event honored high school seniors, college students, and adults who are committed to pursue careers in the teaching profession. More than 300 future educators from 48 Georgia school districts attended the event.
Congratulations to Jayme Morgan (GCHS), Campbell Pass (SHS), and Maddie Swancy (SHS) for making a commitment to improve the quality of education for Georgia’s students!

Attention students...applications are being accepted for SGA representatives for next school year. Packets for SGA applications can be picked up in Mr. Shattuck's office from Mrs. Mashburn starting May 5. Completed packets are due by May 16 at 8:25a.m.
Guest speaker, Nicole Floyd from Advent OBGYN, came and spoke to Mrs. Lee's Allied and Intro to Healthcare classes on Friday about Medical Assisting, the responsibilities of an MA, as well as the education requirements needed to obtain an MA certificate. She brought a lot of insightful information to the students at GC who are working through the healthcare pathway.
Gordon Central's Hosa club celebrated their accomplishments at their banquet last Thursday evening. Congratulations to all the Hosa members for their dedication and hard work this year!

Today, Gordon Central High School celebrated six outstanding seniors during the Georgia Future Educators Signing Day ceremony. Led by Teaching as a Profession instructor Mrs. Kodi Albright, this special event honored students who have committed to pursuing careers in education, including fields such as special education, elementary education, and speech/language pathology.
GCHS alumnus and current teacher Mederic Rodriguez, along with Assistant Superintendent Sket Angland, shared inspiring remarks about the impact and importance of becoming an educator.
Congratulations to Vanessa Aparicio, Kinsley Caudle, Madelyn Goble, Jessica Gutierrez, Jayme Morgan, and Trinity Nguyen. Thank you for dedicating yourselves to the future of education. We are proud of you and excited to see the difference you will make.

Gordon Central 10th graders took a trip to The Breman Holocaust Museum on Wednesday after reading Elie Wiesel's book, Night. Students were humbled while walking through the educational exhibits of history and culture.

The Gordon Central Soccer teams are hosting a t-shirt fundraiser that is open to the public.

Gordon Central's Sources of Strength student group hosted a wonderful free play time on Friday with our special needs students where fun was had by all! Music, snacks, basketball, and dancing allowed everyone to enjoy an afternoon of enjoyment! To see these students interacting was a joy and blessing that won't quickly be forgotten. A special thank you to Gordon County Social Workers who made this all possible.
