Senior Dean Rice competed this weekend in the AHSBA two day fishing tournament and was awarded scholarship money. This brings his scholarship winnings to over $4000. Also, Dean lettered in fishing for Gordon Central and is the first student to do so. He and his partner, Colton Cleveland (CHS Student), will be competing in the National/World High School fishing competition in June. The Tribe is proud of Dean for his accomplishments!

Terry Mills and BJ McMahan met with work-based learning students and others interested in learning about careers with the Calhoun Fire Department. Students learned that applicants must have a high school diploma, be at least 18 years old, pass medical and physical ability tests, as well as a background check and drug screening. No experience is necessary, and successful candidates will receive paid training to earn firefighter certification. Work hours, benefits, and opportunities for advancement were also explained. Several seniors expressed interest in learning more and applying with the fire department.
We appreciate our community partners that invest in our students and help educate them on career possibilities.
