Gordon Central High School and Ashworth Middle School participated in a shared lockdown drill today. This drill was prescheduled in advance and was a good opportunity to remind faculty and students of safety procedures in the event of a dangerous situation. It went great on both campuses, and I have no doubt our Warriors know exactly what to do in the event of a real lockdown.
GCHS, AMS, and Gordon County Schools will always treat student safety as our first priority, and GCHS believes that your children can only be truly successful in a learning environment that feels safe and protected. Rest assured that while we hope we never have to do a real lockdown or emergency evacuation of the facility, we take drill practices very seriously--and the students do, too. This knowledge saves lives, and today's social media technology provides easy access for teenagers to spread false and real threats across multiple platforms to wide audiences. That means we must always be ready and take every precaution necessary for preventative measures.

Senior Spotlight!
To honor the hard-working faculty at Gordon Central, the football team will be selecting a staff member to serve as an honorary team captain for each of our home football games.
The selected captain, will be invited to the pregame meal, get a behind the scenes tour of pregame routines, have sideline access to the game, be recognized over the PA, and walk out with the captains for coin toss.
The tough part is selecting one person from such a great group of professionals! Your dedication to our young people is both respected and appreciated!!
