Excellent work in Lacey Mullinax’s 8th grade science class as students learn the difference between acceleration and velocity and practice describing how acceleration occurs! Their thoughtful responses and active participation show a strong grasp of these key physical science concepts. #ExtraordinaryRBMS #ExtraordinaryGCS

Congratulations to 8th grader Scarlett Caudill and 7th grader Alecsia Lopez for being selected to represent RBMS at Georgia All-State Chorus in February. These girls were selected based on their performance at highly competitive and rigorous auditions held on November 8. This is a high honor, and these girls are the first students to be selected in our school’s history! Way to go!

Gordon County Schools is proud to celebrate two extraordinary middle school students who were recognized by the Kiwanis Club of Calhoun-Gordon County for their outstanding character. Cooper Ingram from Red Bud Middle School and Addy Temple from Ashworth Middle School exemplify kindness, leadership, and service in their schools and communities.

Cooper Ingram (top of image) is an exceptional young man who consistently demonstrates compassion and a willingness to help others. He is always ready to lend a hand, often stepping in without being asked simply because he recognizes a need. Cooper never seeks recognition or the spotlight. Instead, he acts out of genuine care and integrity, making his classroom and school a better place each and every day. His character shines through his everyday actions, reflecting who he truly is at heart.

Addy Temple (bottom of image) has shown remarkable leadership through her daily responsibility of raising and lowering the U.S. and Georgia state flags at Ashworth Middle School. With quiet pride and dedication, she ensures that the flags are displayed respectfully, demonstrating discipline, honor, and teamwork. Whether she is organizing the flag area, mentoring younger students, or stepping up to help whenever needed, Addy leads through service and sets a powerful example for her peers. She reminds us that leadership often begins with small acts carried out with excellence and heart.

We are incredibly proud of Cooper and Addy for representing the spirit of Red Bud Middle School and Ashworth Middle School with such integrity and character. Congratulations to these outstanding students.

Red Bud Middle School 6th grade ELA teacher Marilyn Coats worked with her students today as they reviewed what they have read and learned so far from the novel, "The Bad Beginning." Students practiced locating evidence in the text to support a central idea, strengthening their reading comprehension and analytical skills with their study guides.

Gordon County Schools is proud to announce that Tolbert Elementary School and Red Bud Middle School have been recognized by the Georgia Department of Education for outstanding academic achievement.

Tolbert Elementary was named a Literacy Leader for exceptional growth in 3rd Grade Gateway Reading, and Red Bud Middle was recognized as a Math Leader in High School Outstanding Achievement for the performance of its 8th-grade students on the 9th Grade Algebra End-of-Course Milestones exam.

The Literacy Leader and Math Leader honors celebrate schools that demonstrate extraordinary student progress and proficiency. Schools are recognized for achievement, growth, or both, based on annual end-of-grade and end-of-course assessments. These awards highlight the importance of strong literacy and numeracy skills as foundations for lifelong learning and success.

State School Superintendent Richard Woods commended these schools, saying, “Strong literacy and math skills open the door for every opportunity our students will encounter in school, in their future careers, and in life. The schools recognized as Literacy Leaders and Math Leaders have shown a deep commitment to ensuring every student has the tools to succeed.”

Congratulations to Tolbert Elementary and Red Bud Middle for their continued dedication to academic excellence and student growth.
