September is Attendance Awareness Month! To celebrate school attendance, we will have a friendly competition among our schools. The class with the highest attendance percentage during the month of September will win an ice cream party. The school with highest attendance percentage on September 30th will receive an attendance trophy! Help your child by ensuring he/she is at school every day and on time, sending notes when they must be absent due to illness, and supporting your child to develop good attendance habits! #GoCoSchools #GETGCS #OneBIGFamily

PARENT & FAMILY ENGAGEMENT WEEKLY TIP: Our School-Parent Compact for Achievement is an agreement that explains how parents, students, and teachers will work together to make sure that all students are successful. The compacts are designed by grade-level and are available on our website. A paper copy will also be sent home with your child. Reviewing the compact together and posting the compact to your refrigerator door is a great way to connect with your child and keep the goals on your family’s mind. These are also valuable tools to use during Parent-Teacher Conferences. It is important that you sign the compact with your child and return to the school. Feel free to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions. Visit www.gcbe.org/pfe to learn more about GCS Parent & Family Engagement today. #GoCoSchools #OneBIGFamily #GETGCS

Good luck to third, fourth, and fifth grade students as they begin taking the Georgia Milestones this week! We would like to remind all students to be on time as we have to limit hallway traffic after testing begins. TIPS TO HELP PREPARE & ENABLE YOUR STUDENTS TO BE SUCCESSFUL ON TESTING DAYS! * Get a good night’s sleep before each testing day.
Try to avoid late sports practices or games, late-night TV, and late-night electronics.
When students are rested they are able to concentrate and do their best on the test. * Eat a light, nutritious breakfast each morning before testing.
Food is the fuel that powers the body and the brain.
Fruits, carbohydrates (such as bread), and proteins (such as eggs) work best to give students testing energy. * Be in school each day and on time.
Schedule any doctor or dentist appointments outside of the testing schedule.
