PARENT & FAMILY ENGAGEMENT TIP OF THE WEEK: Use real world examples to teach math at home.
Point out ways that people use math every day to pay bills, balance their checkbooks, figure out their net earnings, make change, and tip at restaurants. Involve older children in projects that incorporate geometric and algebraic concepts like planting a garden, building a bookshelf, or figuring how long it will take to drive to your family vacation destination.

In observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Tolbert Elementary will be closed on Monday, January 16, 2023.

🚨🚨DELAYED DISMISSAL ANNOUNCEMENT🚨🚨
Due to inclement weather, Gordon County Schools will be delaying student release today, January 12th, by approximately 30 minutes.
The Afterschool Program (ASP) at our elementary schools will operate as normal.
Please continue to monitor the Gordon County Schools website, all social media handles, and notifications received from the mass notification system for the most up to date information.

Next week students will take the winter MAP benchmark assessment. MAP assesses students’ academic growth. We hope to see lots of growth from the beginning of the school year! Here are some ways you can support testing at home:
1. Talk to your child about testing and the importance of taking your time and trying your very best.
2. Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep.
3. Make sure your child eats a good breakfast at home or at school.
Your child’s teacher will post the specific days your child will test, so be on the lookout for that information. Thank you for your support with testing!

Help cheer on the Georgia Bulldogs in the National Championship by wearing your Red and Black Tomorrow, January 9th, 2023. ❤️🖤🏈

FALL FESTIVAL RESCHEDULED
Good afternoon,
Due to the widespread impact of extensive illness, we have made the necessary decision to reschedule Fall Festival for Friday, November 11th. It takes a full staff to provide a well-organized festival, and we are currently short staffed.
It is my hope that the two-week delay will give students and staff a chance to recover before the big event!
