W.L. Swain Elementary Pre-K students are learning through play and creativity!
Mrs. Byrd and her paraprofessional, Mrs. Christy, worked with students in stations as they explored different ways to build, create, and play together. These activities support early learning standards while helping students practice social skills together.

W.L. Swain Elementary kindergarten students are off to a great start in Ms. Kretzschmar’s classroom.
Ms. K, as she is affectionately known by her students, taught in small groups while introducing the first kindergarten standards of the school year. These early moments help students build confidence, learn routines, and begin developing the skills they will use all year long.
It was a wonderful start for our youngest learners at WLS!

W.L. Swain Elementary started the year with a focus on relationships, teamwork, and creating a strong classroom community.
Mrs. Woods talked with students about how their class is like a family, and students wrote their own family promises for the school year. Their promises focused on working together, building strong relationships, learning, growing, and helping others.
It was a meaningful way to set the tone for a great year of connection and success.

Please join us in welcoming Ms. Caitlin Chamblee, another one of our new 1st Grade teachers!
Ms. Chamblee is beginning her 2nd year of teaching and is a graduate of Dalton State College. A proud 2019 Sonoraville High School graduate and Gordon County Schools alumna, she’s excited to be back home serving the community that helped shape her.
When she’s not teaching, she loves traveling, baking, spending time with her dog Loey and cat Bando, and attending concerts—she’s seen over 50 artists perform in the past few years!
Ms. Chamblee shares, “My favorite part of teaching is watching those ‘lightbulb moments’ when learning finally clicks. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing my students grow in confidence and celebrate their successes!”
She is excited to partner with families to create a positive, engaging, and supportive classroom where every student can learn, grow, and thrive.
We’re so happy to have Ms. Chamblee at WLS!

Please help us give a warm WLS welcome to Mrs. Tina Bunch, one of our new 1st Grade teachers! Originally from Arkansas, Mrs. Bunch recently celebrated her first year of marriage and made the move to Georgia. She earned her degree from Henderson State University and is beginning her 4th year of teaching. When she’s not in the classroom, you’ll find her hiking, exploring antique shops, or enjoying one of her favorite hobbies—singing! Mrs. Bunch’s favorite part of teaching is: “Helping shape minds and make a connection that will last a lifetime.” ❤️ We’re so excited to have Mrs. Bunch as part of the WLS family. Welcome!
