CALHOUN, GA - Gordon County Schools takes immense pride in announcing that Coach Randy Steward of Sonoraville High School will be honored this spring as he joins the distinguished ranks of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum, Class of 2024.

The Georgia Chapter induction ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the prestigious Venue at Friendship Springs in Flowery Branch, Georgia. Randy Steward will be one of seven individuals from Georgia recognized in the Class of 2024, receiving accolades for "Lifetime Service to Wrestling." This esteemed acknowledgment is a testament to his dedication and significant contributions to the sport of wrestling over the years. 

Randy Steward, hailing from Plainville, GA, has devoted an impressive 41 years of service to wrestling. Currently in his eighth season as the head coach at Sonoraville High School, he has led the. Phoenix to three GHSA traditional titles. Before making his mark in Georgia, Steward served as the head coach and assistant professor at the college level for 25 years, spending two years at Ellsworth Community College and 23 at Loras College in Iowa. During his tenure, he coached six NCAA D3 national champions and 56 D3 All-Americans. Notably, Steward is also an inductee into the NWCA D3 Wrestling Hall of Fame, and his expertise as a clinician and camp instructor is highly sought after across the country.

"I am humbled with this Hall of Fame induction," stated Coach Steward. "Wrestling, competing and then coaching, has been my passion for as long as i can remember.  I am grateful for this honor coming in the twilight of my career." 

The National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum, situated in Stillwater, Oklahoma, is dedicated to preserving the history of wrestling, recognizing outstanding individual accomplishments, and inspiring future generations to engage in the oldest sport known to humankind.
