GCS Has Huge Success at State FFA

Congratulations to Sonoraville High School, Gordon Central High School, Red Bud Middle School, and Ashworth Middle School for their achievements at the 2024 Georgia State FFA Convention.

Sonoraville High School senior Kylie Hurd received State STAR recognition in the field of Agriscience, along with a 1st place state championship in Agricultural Research Proficiency. Phoenix junior Makena Blalock was named Georgia FFA State Secretary, helping lead 80,000 Georgia FFA members alongside her teammates.

Sonoraville High had other state champions as well. Ross White placed 1st in Power, Structural, and Technical Systems, Emma Bennett placed 1st in Food Products and Processing, and Taylor Short & Ember Hannigan placed 1st in Food Products and Processing. Region champions Harley Dutton & Maddie Stewart placed 3rd in state in Structural, and Technical Systems. Congratulations!

Gordon Central High School competed and assisted during the convention as well. Congratulations to Peyton Schwartz & Kate Silvers for placing 3rd in state competition in Plant Systems. Great job, Warriors!

Red Bud Middle School also had awesome success at the convention. Congratulations to region champions Hank Smith for competing in Crop Production and Candy Romero in Home Community Development. Matthew Manning is the 1st place state champion in Agriculture Sales, Marketing, and Services.

Ashworth Middle School FFA members participated at the convention and assisted running the finals of the Junior and Senior Parliamentary Procedure contests.

Congratulations to all students! Agriculture is such an important part of Georgia commerce, and we are so proud of our Gordon County students for their achievements.
