GORDON COUNTY, GA - The Gordon County Young Farmers recently hosted a highly successful Agriculture Literacy Day at the Northwest Georgia Agricultural Pavilion. This educational event brought together FFA students and educators from Sonoraville High, Gordon Central High, Ashworth Middle, and Red Bud Middle Schools, who worked tirelessly to create a memorable experience for third-grade students from Gordon County's elementary schools.

During the event, students were immersed in the world of agriculture and gained a deep appreciation for the crucial role of farmers in our lives. They learned how farmers are committed every day to supplying the world with the safest, highest quality, most abundant, diverse, and affordable food, fiber, and shelter.

The day was filled with interactive activities that included getting up close and personal with farm animals, making butter, exploring the origins of their food, and discovering the various parts of plants. It was an engaging and informative experience that left a lasting impression on the young minds.

This incredible event would not have been possible without the generous support of the following partners in education:

- Calhoun Farm Supply
- Gordon County Farm Bureau
- Mauldin Trash Service
- Fairmount Poultry
- AgGeorgia Farm Credit
- Little Red Barn Mobile Petting Farm
- Gordon County Extension Service
- Georgia DNR Law Enforcement
- AdventHealth Gordon
- Red Carpet Cattlemen’s Association
- North GA EMC

A special thanks go out to the Red Carpet Cattlemen’s Association for providing a delicious lunch for all the hardworking volunteers who made this day possible.
