Ashworth Middle School band students are already making music and building strong foundations for the year.
New band director Ms. Stokesbary had the Dr. Beat metronome going as students worked on whole notes in the song they were learning. From keeping steady time to learning how each note fits into the music, students are developing skills that will help them grow as musicians.
We are excited to see all that Ms. Stokesbary and the AMS band students accomplish this year!

Today's softball game against Darlington has been cancelled due to poor field conditions after last night's rain.

Ashworth Middle School students in Mrs. Rhinehart’s social studies class explored their textbooks through a classroom scavenger hunt.
Students worked to identify the different tools, resources, and features found inside their social studies textbooks so they can better understand how to use them throughout the year. This activity helped students become more familiar with an important classroom resource while building confidence for the learning ahead.

AMS Weekly Events: 8/10 - 8/16

Ashworth Middle School is starting the year with purpose, teamwork, and problem solving.
Teachers shared their “why” for teaching on a bulletin board, reflecting on the students they serve and the impact they hope to make each day. Around the building, students were also successfully opening lockers and getting settled into their routines for the first day of school.
In science class, Coach Moses had students working in teams to build the tallest structure possible using index cards. Students collaborated, tested ideas, and competed to see which design could stand the highest.
It was a great start to the year at Ashworth Middle School as students and staff grow, connect, and succeed together.
