Today, we had the honor of hosting Georgia Senator Chuck Payne (District 54) at Belwood Elementary during Georgia Pre-K Week! Senator Payne spent time with our youngest learners, sharing the importance of reading and getting an education.
Our Pre-K students loved hearing Senator Payne read two books: Malcolm Mitchell's "A Magnificent Field Trip to the Governor's Mansion" and the Sesame Street classic, "The Monster at the End of This Book." They were laughing at the funny voices and had a great time. We appreciate Bright from the Start Pre-K Specialist Jae Boyd for being a guest listener today.
When Senator Payne finished reading, he gave all the students a big hug and shared positive words about their futures when they work hard and strive to be good readers.
We are so grateful for Senator Payne’s dedication to fostering a love of reading in our students. His visit was a reminder of the lasting impact a good book and an inspiring role model can have on a child's education. Thank you, Senator Payne, for your support of our students and their futures!

Please join us in giving Mrs. Meghan Vess a HUGE Thank You for being Belwood's MOST AMAZING Instructional Coach!
So, what does an instructional coach do, you ask? Well, every now and then she will joyfully pop popcorn for student incentives, or sometimes she will dress up as a clown and ride a tricycle around the school to bring smiles to our students' faces, but most days she works with teachers to improve the quality of their lessons and the quality of students' education.
She serves as a mentor and role model, helping teachers stay fresh and use the latest techniques and technologies in their classrooms.
Basically, she is a Ninja Superhero and we LOVE HER!

When you hear the words Pretty, Pretty Princess, this young lady surely comes to mind!
And she is beautiful inside and out!
Congratulations to our own Audrey Psaila for representing us so well as a SHS Homecoming Princess!
Belwood would also love to send a big CONGRATULATIONS to 2024 Sonoraville High School Homecoming Queen, Miss Ella Kate Walraven and Homecoming King, Mr. Luke Fox!!

October breakfast and lunch menus.

Congratulations to these students and teachers for demonstrating the concept of "COMPASSION" this month.
"COMPASSION: caring enough to do something about someone else's needs."
And a HUGE Shout Out to our local Chick-Fil-A @cfacalhoun for coming alongside Belwood to support and encourage good character by providing our Core Essentials curriculum and sponsoring our character breakfast each month!

Come join us for our next PTO meeting October 8 @ 5:30 in the design room.
We would love to have you!!
Not sure if you should join?
Well, ....... the #1 REASON you should is …
It’s GOOD for your child!
Research shows that children whose parents are involved in their school make better grades and have fewer disciplinary problems at school.
When parents and caregivers get connected to the school, their children do better! Showing your child you value education will teach them to value it as well.

National Custodian Day, which rolls around every October 2, recognizes the hard work that it takes to keep our school in tip-top shape, spotless and sanitary.
But, as many of you would agree: everyday is a day to celebrate these awesome teammates!
Custodians do more than just clean up after messy kids (and adults), they have a huge impact on culture and student achievement. We appreciate all you do for Belwood, inside and out!!
By the way, I asked for a photo and ended up doing a photo shoot - which is EXACTLY why we LOVE these ladies!

ATTENTION BELWOOD FAMILIES:
You should have recently received information about a wonderful opportunity for you to support our school and our students!
It is called the Break-A-Thon fundraiser!
The Break-A-Thon is a Board Breaking Fundraiser designed to enhance student confidence while raising funds for our school.
Over a 6-week period, students will set a goal to break 5 boards each and seek pledge donations from friends and family, similar to “Jump Rope for Heart”
This will culminate in a high-energy “Board Break Day” at the end of the 6 weeks where students demonstrate their skills and break their 5 boards.
All students who raise at least $50 will get to break 5 boards on Board Break Day held during school! (Oct 31) Remember, raising more than $50 won’t increase the number of boards you break, but it will help your school reach your fundraising goals. The classroom that raises the most money will win a Ninja Pizza Party! Keep pushing to raise as much as you can – every extra dollar helps us make a bigger impact for our school!
