Big shout out to Paisley Culvey who helped a student who was not able to walk the balance beam by holding his hand so he could successfully complete the beam! At Belwood we continue to implement Positive Behavior Supports by nominating students that we "catch being good". This year we will focus on students demonstrating one or more of the Big 3 qualities from Core Essentials: Treat Others Right Make Smart Decisions and Maximize Your Potential. We LOVE to celebrate the good things our kiddos are doing. #TogetherBES #TogetherGCS #GordonCountySchools #belwoodfamily #BuildingExceptionalStudents #CoreEssentials #CaughtBeingGoodBES

Don't forget our Break-A-Thon fundraiser is coming to a close this Friday, Oct. 25th. All students who raise at least $50 will get to break 5 boards on Board Break Day held during school! (Oct 31) Remember, raising more than $50 won’t increase the number of boards you break, but it will help your school reach your fundraising goals. The classroom that raises the most money will win a Ninja Pizza Party! Keep pushing to raise as much as you can – every extra dollar helps us make a bigger impact for our school!

Today, we had the honor of hosting Georgia Senator Chuck Payne (District 54) at Belwood Elementary during Georgia Pre-K Week! Senator Payne spent time with our youngest learners, sharing the importance of reading and getting an education. Our Pre-K students loved hearing Senator Payne read two books: Malcolm Mitchell's "A Magnificent Field Trip to the Governor's Mansion" and the Sesame Street classic, "The Monster at the End of This Book." They were laughing at the funny voices and had a great time. We appreciate Bright from the Start Pre-K Specialist Jae Boyd for being a guest listener today. When Senator Payne finished reading, he gave all the students a big hug and shared positive words about their futures when they work hard and strive to be good readers. We are so grateful for Senator Payne’s dedication to fostering a love of reading in our students. His visit was a reminder of the lasting impact a good book and an inspiring role model can have on a child's education. Thank you, Senator Payne, for your support of our students and their futures! #TogetherWeLearn #TogetherGCS #GordonCountySchools

Please join us in giving Mrs. Meghan Vess a HUGE Thank You for being Belwood's MOST AMAZING Instructional Coach! So, what does an instructional coach do, you ask? Well, every now and then she will joyfully pop popcorn for student incentives, or sometimes she will dress up as a clown and ride a tricycle around the school to bring smiles to our students' faces, but most days she works with teachers to improve the quality of their lessons and the quality of students' education. She serves as a mentor and role model, helping teachers stay fresh and use the latest techniques and technologies in their classrooms. Basically, she is a Ninja Superhero and we LOVE HER!
