Gordon County Schools is on an early release schedule Wednesday, March 13th and Thursday, March 14th for Parent Conferences. We hope families were able to schedule time to meet with teachers to discuss your child's progress this year. If not, you are encouraged to stay in contact with your school and connect with teachers to find time to discuss academic achievement and future goals. Friday, March 15th is an At-Home Learning Day. We hope that your child or children are able to explore learning opportunities that day and catch up on assignments, projects, and materials as we approach End-of-Course and End-of-Grade Milestones testing.

Congratulations to the 2023-2024 Fairmount Elementary School Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Taylor Ballew. Here are a few examples of why she is Teacher of the Year. "Taylor works very hard to support academics in her classes. She truly loves her kids and will support them at school and at other events in the community. She works hard as a cheerleading coach and gives those girls her full support on and off the competition mat. " "Mrs. Ballew has deserved to win TOTY every year that I've known her. She went above and beyond in the ELA classroom and has blossomed into a true school leader in her PE role. She purposefully and intentionally finds activities to help our students become better readers, mathematicians, and all around students. She gives everything 110% and our school is better for it. There is not a single person within the halls of our school that does not love her. FES would be lucky to be represented by Taylor as Teacher of the Year." "Mrs. Ballew has done an amazing job since becoming the physical education teacher. She collaborates with other teachers to find ways to incorporate what the students are learning into her PE lessons. She is one of the first ones to volunteer when we have school wide activities. She is an integral part of our homecoming float, fall festival, and field day. Not only does Mrs. Ballew go the extra mile at our school, she is also a cheerleading coach. Mrs. Ballew is a great example for her peers and students to emulate. "
