This week Mrs. Lee’s Allied Healthcare class has been learning about wound care and post-surgical wound care. The students were asked to create a wound and a scenario on how the person obtained the wound. They were given the liberty to be creative. The kids did an excellent job!

Thursday was Gordon Central Night at the Fair, and we are grateful to the Northwest Georgia Fair Association for its continued support of our arts programs. Each year, our choral program has the opportunity to work the gates in exchange for a donation from the Fair Association, and last night, our band also received a generous contribution in recognition of their participation in community events such as the fair and local Christmas parades. We are thankful for these partnerships that help enrich the experiences of our students.

Mrs. Rainwater's Journalism class was privileged to have McKenzie Blaze as their guest speaker via Zoom today. Ms. Blaze is a sports reporter from WALB in Albany, Georgia. She spoke to the class about what her job entails, the skills needed for sports reporting, how she spends her day, and the highs and lows of sports reporting.
On Wednesday, Mrs. Sullivan's 10th grade class took part in a Gallery Walk, diving deep into The Book Thief and exploring the profound themes woven through Death’s narration.

Attention Juniors and Seniors! The Probe Fair is coming to Dalton State College on October 3 and there will be representatives from 50 colleges at the fair. Registration is $15 (cash only) and covers transportation and lunch at CiCi's Pizza. Registration ends on Sept. 26 and only the first 100 juniors and seniors to register will get to go on the trip. There will be a representative on campus from Georgia Tech University on Weds. 9/17 from 10:30 - 11:15 to speak with prospective students. Please see Mr. Angland to register.
Ms. Rusciano's Biology students recently participated in a bubble lab to help demonstrate the structure and function of the cell membrane by modeling its different properties: fluid and flexibility, self repair, membrane bound organelles, and transport proteins.
Mrs. Watts' Biology students investigated how the size of a cell (represented by gummy bears) change in different types of solutions. They measured gummy bears before and after being placed in salt water and in tap water.
