The National Honor Society members of Gordon Central recently delivered 53 cinch sacks filled with comfort items to the Gordon County Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) office . CASA provides trained volunteers to advocate for children navigating the court system due to abuse or neglect.

Understanding that many of these children spend long hours in court, our 2024–2025 NHS members set out to create bags filled with items to provide comfort and engagement. Last year’s members initiated the project, and this year’s members proudly brought it to completion. Each bag included coloring books, crayons, markers, stuffed animals, fidgets, word searches, block kits, snacks, water, and more.

Funds for the project were raised through sales at December’s Mistletoe Market, and we are incredibly grateful to those who generously donated items and support, including Leah Tidwell, Dollar Tree on Dews Pond Road, Five Below, Gordon Central, and our NHS members themselves.

We are proud of our students for their compassion, initiative, and commitment to serving our community. #ExtraordinaryGCHS #GCHSNHS
